Daniel Leo O'Connell, Jr.

Daniel L. O'Connell, Jr., 57, currently of Abilene, Texas, previously from Naples, Florida and Cincinnati, Ohio passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side in the evening hours of Sunday, September 24, 2023. Dan spent nearly 40 years as a Master Machinist and Manufacturing Supervisor. He Enjoyed camping, Fishing, motorcycles and airplanes. First and foremost, he leaves behind his Wandering Shamrock, a pint of Guinness, several fishing poles with a tackle box and many tools. Although he enjoyed those things, Dan was really known as a family man. He was preceded in death by his father Daniel L. O'Connell, Sr.  He leaves behind his loving wife Santina of 16 years. He was extremely proud of his children Branden O'Connell, Joe O'Connell, Andrew (Daphne) Wells, Alexandrea (Kendall) Peterson, and James Collins III. He was a wonderful Papaw to Jackson Liam, Kolton, Kinzley, Rosalee and Isabelle. A friend, valued colleague and mentor to many. He will be greatly missed by his Mother Karen O'Connell of Ohio, sisters Lisa (Jim) Burnett, Kelly O'Connell, Erin (Dan) Ripberger and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Dan lost his battle with Metastasized Lung Cancer and Parkinson's Disease. A Celebreation of Life will be announced at a later date in both Cincinnati and Abilene. Donations in his honor can be made to American Cancer Society, Parkinson's Foundation of American Heart Association. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to West Central Texas Cremation.
