Ema-Lee Delacruz

Ema-Lee DeLa Cruz, 50, of Merkel Texas passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family Thursday May 11th, 2023 at Hendrick Medical Center. Ema-Lee was born to Raynaldo DeLa Cruz and Elfida DeLa Cruz in Abilene Texas. Ema-lee attended high school in Merkel, Texas. During her time on earth, Ema-Lee was a beacon of light, hope and strength. She was the life of the party and brought smiles to everyone around her. She enjoyed spending time out doors, camping and fishing with her family. She was always up for a good puzzle, and could beat anyone at a word search race. She loved to travel and experience new places. Her craving for Mountain Dew was never ending, and according to her, a good scratch off ticket never hurt anyone. Most importantly, she loved her family. She was a loving mother who adored her grandchildren as they were her heart and soul. Ema-Lee is survived by her two children, Priscilla Mitchell (husband Nathan Mitchell), Dakota James DeLa Cruz, and three grandchildren Sophia DeLa Cruz, Kallan DeLa Cruz, and Adelynn Mitchell. She is also survived by: mother Elfida DeLa Cruz, brother Ray DeLa Cruz (wife Heather DeLa Cruz), sisters Ana Vargas-Wallace (husband Jason Vargas-Wallace), Melissa Bermea (husband Hector Bermea), and many nieces and nephews. Ema-Lee was proceeded in Death by her father Raynaldo DeLa Cruz and sister Sandra Jo Martinez DeLa Cruz. A celebration of life will be held at the Merkel Heritage Hall on Saturday May 20, 2023 at 2pm.
