Though he could be gruff, he worried very much about his siblings and loved ones. His very dear friend, Kerry Burns, Kerry’s daughters, that Jack considered his granddaughters , Krista Burns, namesake grandson, Oakley Jack Hall, granddaughter, Maegan Diane Burns, were in his thoughts and prayers all the time. Jack Carden, was on his way to the Midland, Odessa area when he stopped in Abilene. And here he stayed. He loved Abilene and made many friends over the 20 plus years that he lived here. He had a window cleaning business and considered these clients his friends.

Jack was a voracious reader and lover of history. He traveled a lot in his younger years and would visit any historical sight that caught his interest! He was also an extra in the John Wayne movie “ Rio Bravo”. I would like to thank and remember his hospice nurse, Dena Marks, who through her care, helped allow Dad to be able to remain independent and on his own much longer than he would have been able to. And, a big thanks to Brightpointe at Lytle Lake for their care of dad at the end.

He lived a full life and in his own words, “I did everything I wanted to do, with no regrets.”

A memorial will be held at a later date to celebrate his great life.
