Jeff Newman

Jeff Wirt Newman departed this world on November 21st in Eastland, Texas. Jeff was a devoted family man, a charismatic friend, and a lover of life. His passing leaves a deep void, especially for his granddaughter, children, and extended family. Jeff was a reliable, present, and caring grandfather to Talyn Hardy, father to Brittney Hardy and Devon Newman, and a cherished brother, uncle, and cousin.

Jeff began his love of music during the 70's live music scene in Austin, Texas. He continued to enjoy concerts in Austin with his sister Cathy or the Blues and Brews Festival in Telluride with his brother Bruce. When not enjoying music at home, he could be found riding his beloved cars and motorcycles throughout the country side of Texas and other states.

Jeff was also an avid tennis player, following in his father’s footsteps, and found joy in cheering on his granddaughter, Talyn, at her matches. His career included real estate and sales, where he worked alongside family, including his son-in-law Sean Hardy for twenty years.

In retirement, Jeff thrived, focusing on fitness and deepening connections with loved ones. Jeff’s life was defined by his love for family, friends, and the simple joys of living.

He is predeceased by his wife, Gamine, his parents, Jim and Betty Newman, and his sister-in-law, Terry. He is survived by his children, Brittney Hardy (spouse Sean Hardy) and Devon Newman, granddaughter Talyn Hardy, brothers Mark and Bruce Newman (spouse Janet Newman), sister Cathy Newman, his nieces and nephews, Sarah Roberson (spouse John Roberson), Matt Newman (spouse Leslie Brice), Austin Newman (spouse Becky Newman), Michael Newman and Kayla Newman (spouse Chris Mayor), and many great nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held at The Episcopal Church of Our Heavenly Rest in Abilene on December 21st at 2pm and at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Austin on December 28th at 2pm.
