Jose Angel Herrera

Jose Angel Herrera, 72, of Abilene, passed away on June 1, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Jose was born in Laredo, Texas, to Amelia and Heriberto Herrera on February 23, 1952.  He married Maria Magdalena (Maggie) Ramon on October 2, 1971 in Laredo TX. They were blessed to share 52 years of marriage. His life was full of love, full of laughter and full of memorable moments. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, training dogs, and was a talented artist, but above all he was proud of his family, and cherished the friendships he made and the community he cultivated. These were the foundations of his life and the legacy he leaves behind in his family. He will be remembered always brimming with life, never taking himself too seriously and always ready to offer a witty-remark or a smile to brighten your day.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Yolanda Cuellar and Luis Herrera and grandson, Jaxon Roy.

Jose is survived by his wife Maggie Herrera; children, Juan Jose Herrera (C.J.), Julissa Herrera Roy (Andrew), and Jacqueline Herrera; grandchildren, Anyssa Guzman (Felix), Alyssa Cooley (Tanner), Aspen Herrera, Kaiya Green, Avery Roy, Adrianna Roy, Mali Herrera, and Chaz Herrera; great-grandson, Oliver Guzman; siblings, Heriberto Herrera (Yolanda), Juan Herrera (Irma), Sylivia Martinez (Armando), Norma Navedo (Luis) and Cecilia Martinez (Ricardo); several nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 11:00 am, at College View Baptist Church 2042 Anderson St. Abilene, TX with pastor Randy Roy. Officiating Cremation services are under the direction of West Central Texas Cremation.

Flowers may be sent to College View Baptist on Monday June 10th before 10am.
