Larry Wade Appleby

Larry Wade Appleby, 78, of Abilene, passed away on February 19, 2024 in Abilene, TX.

Larry was born in Vernon, TX to Robert Martin Appleby and Lela Marie McKay Appleby on June 30, 1945. He graduated from Vernon High School.   He married Valinda Hall on May 4, 1987 in Las Vegas, NV. He worked as a safety coordinator  for West Texas Utilities. He was a veteran of Vietnam and served in the Air Force from April 1966 to February 1972.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lela Marie Appleby, his daughter, Dawn, and his brother, Jessie Appleby.

Larry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Valinda Dorine Hall Appleby, his daughters Lisa Johnson and husband Todd, Misti Sharp and husband Chuck, Jami Parks and husband Mike, Cori Stewart and husband Jeff, and Summer Dodd, his grandchildren Codie Jones and wife Samantha, CheyLee Stewart, Paden Johnson, Brady Stewart, Berkley Stewart, Kace Dodd, Paxton Johnson, Cross Parks, Lorelai Dodd, and Rhett McCullough, and by his best friend and   sister-in-law Melody Hall.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Wylie Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 10:30 AM with Brother Mike Harkrider and Mike Parks officiating.  Private burial will follow at Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery in the Ericksdahl community.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hendrick Hospice Care. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Hendrick Hospice Care, Wylie Baptist Church, the doctors, nurses, and nurse aides who were so compassionate and loving during this time.
