Cherie Wilson Squyres, 62, gained her wings surrounded by her loving husband, family, friends, and of course, her furry companions.

Cherie grew up and spent most of her life in Coleman, Texas. She also lived in Abilene and Cabot, Arkansas, before settling in Winters, Texas, where she and her husband made their home.

Cherie attended Coleman High School and graduated in 1982. She was known for her kindness and love of animals. She would bring home anything and everything she found, from baby animals to rocks she painted with her grandbabies.

Cherie was a straightforward person, but she had a heart of gold. She was always there for her friends, willing to do anything to help them out.

In June 2014, Cherie underwent a double transplant at Baylor Scott and White University Medical Center in Dallas. It was a scary and exciting journey, but she survived and thrived for many years.

Cherie loved to color, paint rocks with her grandbabies, cook, and watch TV shows. If you knew her, you knew which shows she loved to watch.

Cherie is survived by her husband, Carl Squyres, stepmother O’Tilly Wilson, three daughters, Ashley Villegas, Shaley Villegas, and Keylee Rumsey, and her son-in-law, Cody Rumsey. She also is also survived by a half-brother Charles Wilson of Winters, step-sisters Elizabeth Monse and Lisa Connolly of Ballinger, and step-sister Susanna Bullock of Winters. Her niece and nephew, Tina and Robert Rankin of Coleman, are also among her loved ones.

Cherie is preceded in death by her father, Paul Wilson, and mother, Leola (Cricket) Wilson. A grandson, Blaine Garrett and brother, Mike Lobstein.
