Ralph Webster Fortney

Ralph Webster Fortney, affectionately known as "Grandpa",  "Ralphie", & "Jake", was born on December 10, 1965, in Preston County. He lived a vibrant life that came to a close on October 31, 2024, in Abilene, Texas. Ralph was larger than life, a personality left an impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. With a gift for storytelling, he captivated the hearts and minds of so many, sharing tales that brought laughter and reflection.

The brightest lights in his eyes were his granddaughters (Maycee and Shealee), and his beautiful "My Lady," wife, Edna Harrington-Fortney, and his four sons, Rj (wife Crystal), Shawn (wife Caitlin), Austin, and James.  He loved his nephew Kasamuel, sisters Jackie and Michelle and their families, brother Kim, his family in Ohio, all his nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ralph had so many friends, its hard to list them all but a special mention to Linda, James, and Billy. Each image of Ralph's life reinforces the warmth and affection he shared with his family. His legacy lives on through his loved ones, who will cherish the memories and stories he imparted.

Ralph now rejoins his daughter, Elizabeth, his granddaughters, Winter and Autumn, and his mother, Chiqueta Hayes, in eternal rest. Their reunion is a comforting thought to those who remain, as they remember the laughter and joy Ralph brought to their lives. His presence will be sorely missed, but his spirit and the stories he told will continue to resonate in the hearts of many.
